We were at Co-op all day yesterday while the movers  did their magic and finished packing our house.  They were heading out for the day when I got home and we chatted in the garage for a few minutes before they left.  Meanwhile, Hannah was inside poking around checking out all of the stacks of boxes.  When I came in the house, she said, “we could make an  awesome fort with all these boxes!”  She was standing by the boxes marked “milk glass” which are my antique treasure that were passed down to me from my grandma and my mom.  I discouraged her.

I told Ryan about her comment this morning, he grinned and said, “you know, I had the same thought…”

Who knows with those two…

We told stories in the dark before bedtime with flashlights since all the lamps are packed up.  Hannah tried to make hers spooky, but she is just not a spooky sort of girl.

I realized in the middle of the day at Co-op that I forgot to set out the dog’s (newly purchased) harnesses and leashes.  There was nothing I could do but wait until I got home to see if I could find them.

I checked the laundry room where I kept them and the very top box was marked “leashes.”  I have been worried about finding things on the other end since I didn’t pack the boxes, have no sense of their “system” and the boxes are rather vaguely marked.  I was as pleased as punch that I didn’t have to sort through a ton of boxes after a busy day of co-op.

Ryan and I both had our moments of sadness in watching our home turn back into a shell of a house.  I couldn’t watch them pack up the green living room and was even reluctant to look at it once the walls were blank and the glass shelves in the built-ins were empty.  My Dad and I built those built-ins…

The movers put plastic carpet protector down first thing when they arrived.  In some places it bubbles up and and makes a popping sound when you walk on it.  It is a pretty heavy plastic and popping the bubbles doesn’t break the plastic.  After making this discovery, you can imagine the fun that Ellie Grace had walking up and down the hallway.  Muffy got in on the action too.  Too bad it was past bedtime and we knew she was out of bed…

And I was worried they couldn’t keep busy without their toys….boxes for forts, flashlights, bubbles…This place is a regular playhouse.  You should have seen the “jungle gym” I had to climb to close the windows last night!
