We participate in a co-op for homeschooling families here in St. Louis. Ellie attended the two-year old class last semester. She loved her teacher, was always eager to go to class, and came home happy after our day out. But, they told me, she was to move up to the 3-4 year old room [...] I guess since this is an adoption blog, maybe I should talk a bit about Ellie’s adoption process. Especially since there is a serious lack of anything concerning Treasure’s adoption. The word “waiting” is a very loaded word. Shel Silverstein wrote a great poem about it, but that is another post. Adoption is a word that [...] Hannah’s math curriculum is not named by grade level but rather by the Greek alphabet. She has completed Alpha and Beta. She will be starting the “Grandma” level next week. At least that is what I overheard her tell her Dad. Did you know that a dinner roll dipped in ketchup can, in fact, be an entree? The shameful thing was that we were at a local steak house with some of the nicest, freshest steaks around. I guess she isn’t old enough to appreciate the really important things in life. (Hannah, on the other hand, got her own [...] Ryan started a chocolate fight with the girls tonight while we were enjoying our dessert of sliced bananas dipped in melted chocolate (Yummy!) I thought Ellie was going to cry when he first smeared her, but she got into it when she saw the chocolate on Hannah’s face. They got him back a little, but [...] Ellie wants to be the ballerina who rides on top of the elephant doing tricks. Whew, I’m relieved. Ryan and Hannah were working on putting the globe that she received as a Christmas present together yesterday. Daddy: “Hannah, can you go downstairs and get the phillips screwdriver. Do you know what that looks like?” Hannah: “No, but I know what a Phillips TV looks like.” Ellie: “When I grow up I want to be an elephant in the circus.” Here are the facts – I feel no shame. Yesterday was trash day and Ryan was out of town. It was 20 degrees. We have a rather long driveway with a couple of good hills.
